Arristuun ran past Galatea and cradled Bailey in his arms.
"Noooo! He was such a good dog!"
Am the Goat trotted over, nudged Bailey with his nose, and then crouched down to snuggle against his best friend's still and lifeless body.
The river ranger left them alone and went to do an inventory on what survived from the campsite. When he came up with almost nothing, he went back to tell the others. "This does not look good. Our spellcasters can keep summoning water for us, but we only have a few days worth of rations left and we're completely out of portable shelters. Do we have any idea how much further it is to the pyramid? And where from here it is?"
((Were there no other exits from the jar room?))

Baal wondered where the jinni flew off to. He had a feeling that wouldn't be the last time his party would encounter the wild elemental spirit. He also wondered whether or not the group had the resources to make it to the pyramid in good standing. There didn't seem to be any sense in staying around this dump, unless . . .
"Perhaps we should use the ruins as shelter and spend a some time strategizing. Let us help the others up and discuss our options."

"We recover and do our best. There is no other choice."
Alfbern went about putting the camels that had no chance of recovery out of their misery.

No clever rejoinder came to Bithautor's lips when he emerged from below and saw the carnage. What was there to say when one saw what could have been so easily dome to them, done to others?
With a shuddering sigh, he determined to make himself useful. Retrieving his weapons, he used them to butcher the camels carcasses once they became safe to handle.
Never in his wildest dreams would he have imagined himself here, in this stricken place, doing such work.

The carnage that awaited them on the surface only furthered Saskia's resolve to find a way to work with the spirit. With this sort of power at her disposal, she and her brother could easily retake their place among their tribe and revenge themselves upon those who had wrong them.
"We wait below in the ruins until nightfall and then we keep moving," Saskia said, then turned and did just that, leaving the gruesome scene behind. As she returned to the cool depths of the ruins, she summoned Tancred to her side, eager to get a more full accounting of the spirit's actions on the surface and where it had disappeared to.

Baal approached Alfbern, "Such simple truth is often overlooked during times of great strain. It is heartening to hear your words." He laid a hand gently upon the warrior's shoulder, then walked over to help Bit with the recovery effort. The druid left no item unchecked.
A short while later, Baal joined Saskia below to entreat with her.
"What have you learned from your aerie companion? We should scour the ruins while we wait for nightfall. If no one else will go, I will search myself. Perhaps Zacklun and Bit would join me . . ."
Baal trailed in his speech, hoping Saskia would find the plan agreeable. With that jinni on the loose, he was having trouble relaxing.

Tancred revealed that after the spirit incinerated the camels, that it turned into a crow and flew away. Something shiny had fallen from it a little bit away from it's exit point in the sands.
It turned out to be Lucky's silver dagger.
Meat was butchered from the camel's bodies during the full sun of midday. Salty sweat stung the eyes of those cutting flesh from their former mounts. After about an hour there was perhaps eighty pounds of meat salvaged, a few days worth of food. Yet with the fires having destroyed most of their firewood, cooking what was left would be a concern. They would need to cook the salvaged meat further for it to last more than a day in this heat.
They managed to scrounge about two nights of firewood from the area's that didn't catch flame as quickly, in the corners of the magic fortification where the effects did not reach as far.
After retreating below the ground where it was cooler, they made plans to explore the ruins further. However after a brief while searching, they could not find any additional rooms or means of egress. There were 12 total reed mats to be found if a use could be made of them.
Night fell and the group needed to decide what their next actions would be.

Alfbern rolled the reed mats into three bundles and stowed them. Their resources were so limited that he saw no reason to abandon them. Worst case they could be used as kindling.

"We head for the pyramid," Saskia said to the assembled group. "Where else is there to go?"
Before they turned in for the night, Saskia had three healing rites she would use. She would see first to her brother's wounds, then her own. Then, if any magic remained to her, she would bestow it upon the insane dwarf.
((Cure Light wounds on Saskia, Alfbern and Thorsan. Also use Alarm before turning in.))

Baal left the camel skins beneath the sandy dome, near the party. He then attended to any other injuries before the day was over. ((Two CLW left. If no one else needs it, he'll cast one on himself))
