Arristuun called back softly, "Ho, we need someone up front to read a tablet!"
The river ranger then moved 15' into the room and assumed a defensive stance in front of the skeletons. Sure, they weren't moving now, but he'd been attacked by so many skeletons getting up off of floors that it wasn't even funny.

The old bones stayed where they were. Both seemed to have cracked skulls and it could be assumed that pieces of rock from the ceiling had fallen and crushed these two poor soul's heads in. Possibly while in the act of defacing this very statue.
Saskia was known to have spells ready to read ancient and alien writings. She approached with trepidation and would go no further than immediately behind the river ranger.
"Have Zacklun check for traps first. I like my skull uncrushed."

Or perhaps someone with ancient history or languages could give it a go.

(I messaged Sean, and he okay-ed searching for traps.)
Red-haired Zacklun checked for traps. He found none after analyzing every square inch in record time. He had an amazing track record for this type of work.
"The roof most likely triggered a break due to an earthquake at some point. It doesn't seem to be currently structurally unsound." He pointed above the statue. "Those two were likely in the wrong place at the wrong time, or offended some Gawd by defacing that." He moved his hand down to point at the statue.
Both dwarves nodded in agreement after looking about. When new, the stonework here would've equaled that of some of the dwarven clans. Perhaps there had been dwarven contractors used in the past here. They smiled a bit to themselves, as if sharing a moment.

And so Saskia cast her spell. She rubbed a bit of ash into some finely powdered salt, and while chanting lowly rubbed a bit to the sides of her nose. A soft azure glow surrounded her eyes as she read from the tablet.
Parts were incomplete.
-thus facing the great doors, & passing your right hand before them, utter "Sahkr al Jinni". Then approach the first & speak,"Alhamduhla," so shall the way be open for you. Speak yet "Bismilla" and "Duban" and you shall be within hand's reach of the greatest of all-

Alfbern inched forward to the chamber's entrance to see what else lay within.

There were a bunch (six) of decaying reed prayer mats set in a circle a top the mosaic-ed floor. It was an elegant tiled pattern consisting of red and orange spirals, each tile about the size of his thumb. The amount of work put into the tiles was astounding and the results both simply beautiful & stunning. The ceiling was a small dome; painted to look like a sunrise in faded paint. No other entrances or exits were seen. The room had a tranquil feel to it. To think he was probably the first living soul to step in here in ages brought a small tear of regret to the corner of his eye. Or maybe it was the dust.

Arristuun listened as Saskia read the tablet.
"You should probably have the honor of speaking the magic words," Arristuun told her. "Unless you want someone else to do it."

Alfbern had heard no screams so he knew his sister and companions were alright. He moved into the room and began looking about more carefully for anything of worth. The people who had worshiped here were long gone and would not know to be offended by his presence.

" 'Greatest of all...' eh? " Bit mused as he wiped the ridiculously fine dust from his body - How did it end up *there*? "We can only hope it is referring to a great treasure, rather than, you know, the greatest of all desert terrors that brought this city to a sandy ruin."

Arristuun grimaced at Bit's joke. Then he did a head count.
"Hey, I don't see Alfbern. Did anyone see where he went, or did someone make him invisible?"

Alfbern found nothing of interest other than the decor. There was nothing under the mats. The walls looked like normal walls, with nothing there to betray any secrets.
The bard, Taliesin responded to the ranger. "He's checking out that side room. Since he's not screaming, I assume he's fine."
The party could either try their luck at the Golden doors again or explore the other side passage from the main room.

Alfbern headed back to his post at the party's rear. But then he walked right past his short-lived station and ambled into the new room. His eyes took in the whole space carefully.
"What I miss?"
