The party started to travel once again. At least their footing was more sure on the sand. After about six hours of walking through a rather empty landscape, they noticed a stirring beneath the sand to their left (West). It was perhaps 20 yards away and angled towards the party, something disturbing the dunes.

Bithautor was woken from a reverie by his camel's sudden bray and shuffle step. Rocking in his seat, and cursing the ungainly beast, he whipped his head around searching for the reason of the disturbance. Noticing the shifting sand, he instinctively drew two throwing knives and waited for the cause to appear.

"What're yeh goin on about? There's just more sa.. eh?" Thorsan struggles with the camel to face the disturbance. A throwing hammer appears in his hand.

Saskia steered her camel away from whatever was heading toward them. With any luck, the others could handle the situation and she would not have to get involved. She would focus her efforts on making sure no riderless camels made a break for it.

Alfbern did not like the prospect of fighting from atop his swaying giant goat mount. So he dismounted, moved several paces ((15 feet?)) along the trail and perpendicular to the disturbance's presumed approach, and smoothly nocked an arrow, ready to fire on whatever threat revealed itself.

Arristuun stood his ground with his trident in both hands, ready to face whatever was borrowing in the sand head on. "Am, behind me!" he commanded his pet.
"Ma-a-a," Am bleated.

Camels were stupid. Camels were smelly. Sand was boring. The desert was hot. Heat was stupid.. These were all things that when through Zackluns mind as the group trudged through the endless waste of a landscape. He noticed the shifting sand, despite his reverie regarding his current situation. He slid off the ungainly beast and started to follow Alfbern and let him lead with around 20ft between them, his bow readied for what might jump out.

Baal advanced to within 50 feet of the unusual collection of wanderers, opposite from where movement was seen in the sand. He waited, spear in hands. As far he could tell, still unseen and unheard by those he followed.

The adventurers could feel the ground tremble as the burrowing earth came closer. About ten feet from Lucky, Arristuun & Thorsan erupted a shower of sand, dust and small stones revealing a ginormous circular mouth (perhaps eight or ten feet wide!) lined with at least three rows of razor sharp barbed teeth. This happened to be attached to a huge worm-like body, dusty purple and rearing perhaps ten feet into the air before it stopped to hiss loudly at the party. Who knew how much more of the beast lurked beneath the sand?
The camels were visibly distressed, with Saskia barely able to keep them in check as the hissed, spit and thrashed to avoid the area.
Baal recognized the creature and nearly lost his bowels. He knew he wouldn't be safe even unseen as these things did not rely on normal vision.
Galatea drew her sword willing it to produce chaotic magical fire and inched forward, and Taliesin moved behind the front ranks next to Alfbern. Zacklun stood near the bard and pulled back on his bow.
[Moving to the combat folder, no surprise to either side, one last clarification on intentions now that the threat is revealed.]

It was a repulsive disgusting mess. As Galatea cut into the worm to free the dwarf (who was in amazingly good spirits for some reason), she found something more than she bargained for. As the thing's stomach was exposed, so was a boot! Still attached to a foot. And the rest of a body. Crazily smiling to herself, she let out a giggle and pulled the body out for all to see. It was another armored dwarf!
The parts of it's (his?) skin that were exposed were burnt by the acidic stomach, but miraculously she detected a slight pulse from it's wrist!
[Enter Osric, Unconscious]
She fished around a bit more and found a handful of slimy gem stones and two crystalline flasks near the body in the stomach. She couldn't tell if they were the dwarf's or the worm's.

She couldn't tell if they were the dwarf's or the worm's. "Ooh! Mine!", Galatea cried out, excitedly. She cleaned the bile off the gems and flasks on her leggings and pocketed the gems and one flask. "I suppose you've earned one", she said as she handed Thorsan the other. After wiping off her blades, she sheathed them.

"We have talked. We share," Alfbern said to Galatea.
((Unless she does something to hide this, which seems unlikely since she handed one to Thorsan.))

"I pulled him out of the damn thing!" Galatea protested. She glared at Alfbern, sighed, and pulled a few of the gems out of her pocket, using her hand to count out her share, and handed the rest to him. "Here. I'm keeping the flask, though!"

That was new. Baal had seen the devastation caused by such sand dwelling wurms before, but never had he seen someone survive inside one!
Baal looked for an inconspicuous sand ridge or dune to retreat to (distance?). There, he watched the group tend to their wounded. Adventurers--always bringing trouble where ever they go.
Perhaps it was best to stay hidden . . .but where would he go? His home was raided, all but destroyed by unscrupulous and desperate men. True, he was a survivor. He would let Ramman be his guide . . .

Galatea had to remember the last time she got caught withholding party treasure. They had left her hanging tied upside down to a pine tree for two whole days while they debated coating her in honey and leaving her for the bears. It was only after intense begging on her part and promises that should wouldn't do it again that they cut her down.
She had to admit though, Alfbern and the rest had saved her life a few half dozen times as well.
