"You realize he's still unconscious," Saskia said to Taliesin. "Even you won't get any tales out of him just yet."
She grabbed one of the extra camels and dragged it over to the carnage of the battle. "Remove his armor, take his weapons, and strap him to the camel. We can deal with him later."

They stripped the definitely unconscious dwarf (who was also not a tunnel), disarmed him (he still has arms, just not weapons) and tied him to a camel. From there they carried on.

After about an hour of walking down the trail by the cool moonlight, the party approached a fallen black obelisk, it's top pointing to the south-west. The trail forks here (to the south-east/left or the south-west/right). Writing can be seen on the base of the obelisk.

Baal had followed the party until they stopped near the base of what looked like a fallen tower or obelisk. He went in for a closer look, coming to a fifty foot distance from the toppled structure. He took care to avoid bumping into anyone or anything else that might reveal his presence.

Alfbern did some mental calculations as they rode. He was far from unintelligent, but the way Flatlanders valued gems and such could be difficult to calculate. Eventually he startled everyone out of their reverie and conversations by yelling back to his sister in a loud voice, "42."
It was a private message they shared. After they made their first big profit off of adventuring they had sat at a fire and done some imaginary math - how many treasure finds would it take for them to have enough to return to their clan and reclaim Alfbern's birthright? That night they had calculated 42. But time had passed and they had collected at least three score times as much wealth as that first treasure. But they were not yet any closer to returning to the hills of their birth. When Alfbern said "42" to his sister it was a way of affirming their sworn mission and reminding each other that this work among the soft Flatlanders was but a stop on the road back.
Then they came to the obelisk. Alfbern dismounted and approached the obelisk on foot. He kept his bow and arrow ready as he approached and was wary for another threat. If he could read the words he would read them out loud for everyone to hear.

Saskia followed on foot, a few steps behind her brother. If Alfbern could not read the words, she would use magic to do the job.

Alfbern was surprised that he was able to make out the runes, an older bastardization of the trade tongue.
"Here lies the Road of the Kings to the Garden City of Pazar. Whilst there lies the Road to Terbakar, Keeper of the Pyramid."
If there were once directional markers however, they'd been lost to the sands of time.

Arristuun made his way beside Galatea as they walked. "Were you hurt?" he asked her quietly. "I thought I had a clear shot with that lightning, but then you jumped up out of nowhere onto the back of that thing. I saw you were knocked back down in the sand..."

Galatea looked sideways at him. She turned and looked him in the eye, wondering if it was a joke. "If I was hurt, I'd be hurting you. Don't worry about my fortitude. I did get a crapton of sand in my hair and down my bodice, thanks so much for that!" She stopped and looked toward the others. "Do you know what's got them so enraptured?" When Arristuun looked away, Galatea quickly adjusted her armor to cover a bloody gash on her arm. {The last thing I need is for them to think I'm weakened}, she thought to herself, wiping the droplets on her dark breeches.

It wasn't much of a wound, more like a thin scrape that was more smeared with blood. Kinda like when a kid bumps their knee.

(Bob--does Baal recognize either of the two locations read aloud from the obelisk? Maybe Local History or Religion proficiencies will help here.)

"Perhaps your bird can help?" Alfbern asked his sister in the language of their people. Even so he spent a little time trying to puzzle out how the obelisk was likely to have fallen to land in its current position.
Then he called out, "Who has that map he gave us?" ((Unless I misunderstood and the map is of the interior of the pyramid, not the way to the pyramid.))

Bit most recently had looked at the map. He would be the first to attest that it was pretty useless, more of a drawing of the outside of a pyramid, and a few buildings that sidled up to it. It showed the south side of the monument to have an entrance through a building attached to the pyramid's base. But that was all.

Saskia cocked her head up, looking to the westward night sky. "Tancred is hunting. I could recall him, but it is too dark to get a lay of the land, regardless. Perhaps if we are still here in the morning."
"Or maybe there's another way." From one of her belt pouches, Saskia produced a fistful of bleached dragon's bones. She knelt on the ground beside the obelisk and began a low chant. "Enki," she intoned. "Guide me with your wisdom. We seek the pyramid of legend. Will the southwest road lead us to success?"
((Cast Augury.))

"Begging your pardon, but perhaps I may be of some assistance," with his face to the group's backs, Baal stepped out of the shadows, all at once ending the invisibility and silence effects produced by his ring.
