Galatea pulled her cloak to cover her head and neck and slung some of the fabric over her mouth and nose. "Acid rain. All this and money, too!" She muttered to herself sarcastically.

There might be cover if it was looked for off the trail. There were hills and crags about, but weather like this was too chaotic for anything less than a cave similar to where they spent the day before.
[Everybody takes 2 points of damage this turn, including pets & familiars.]
Saskia could feel pain from her link with Tancred as the bird flew to her arm. She did the best she could to cover her bond-animal.

Arristuun also didn't see cover, so he decided to make some.
"Am, lay down!" he commanded. Then he moved to the loosest sand near him he could see, took his shield in both hands, and used it as a scoop. He would bury Am in sand to protect him from the acid. "Everyone do the same! Dig!" he commanded (though, with them, it was more like a suggestion) to the others. When Am was covered, the river ranger jumped into the small hole he'd dug and worked to bury himself in the sand.

It was good that Arristuun decided to bury himself and Am. The druid's spell only gouged an area large enough to cram the other party members under. The rain continued to build, but the dry earth sucked up much of the deadliness. [Everybody takes 2 more damage this turn, but after this round no more is taken.]
The goat bleated and shivered as it bled lightly from some moderate wounds as the ranger and his pet huddled under shield. After about 4 more minutes, the rain subsided. The sky continued to contain dark clouds. Would our intrepid explorers continue on into the sands before them?

[I'd like to apologize, Alex misplaced my wireless mouse a couple of days ago, and I was having issues with the touchpad on my laptop being too sensitive. The previous posts were originally more detailed except I accidentally erased a few portions of them and got a bit frustrated and left them in their current state. I hope everybody who went to GenCon had a great time, I hope posting resumes as normal.]

Saskia was Arristuun's go-to girl for healing. He piteously carried Am up to Saskia and asked with puppy dog eyes, "Can Am have some magical healing...?"

Alfbern had been lost in one of his periodic withdrawals into himself. He was usually a cheerful if quiet and brusque companion. But those who had traveled with him long enough knew he occasionally fell into brooding silence for hours or days at a time.
He thanked Baal for his magical rescue with a nod and then found a place to stand watch while the party regrouped.

Before Saskia could reply, Osric jumped up and hugged Arristuun and cried out to his Goddess, Ishtar. "Oh Lady of life and bounty, bless this man and his goat for savin' his humble servant from the belly of the giant worm o' death! The least ye could do is heal this gentle creature in thanks!" With an Istarian salute a gentle glow bathed the goat, healing it of all visible wounds.

"Wow...thank you, Osric!" Arristuun said. He put down Am and watched the goat romp and play. Am was always so happy after receiving magical healing. If only everyone could enjoy the moment like a goat, the river ranger mused to himself, and smiled.
Arristuun, feeling better himself, playfully ribbed Saskia. "Looks like you dropped the ball there, Saskia. There might be a new main healer in our group..."
After that, he turned serious. "Right, let's keep moving! We've more nighttime left to travel by. With all those clouds, though, we don't have moonlight to see by now. Who wants to break out some magical light for us humans?"

Taliesin removed a coin enchanted with permanent light from a pouch.
"This should do."

Alfbern moved out in front of the party and just outside the magical light so he could scout safely.

They continued on wary of the sky even as the storm clouds began to disappear. The hills began to fade behind them as well, replaced once again by dunes of dusty gray sand.
What was that? The band looked at on another as the ground began to tremble lightly.
In the distance, cutting across the trail, the very sand rippled in a huge swath, perhaps the length and breadth of the Queen's barracks & grounds (think about 2 football fields). Every so often something vaguely tube-like could be seen cresting the dust and earth. Osric's eyes grew as he realized it was a herd of worms similar to the one that had swallowed him whole, just smaller in size.
Trumpeting could be heard as well, causing Saskia's summoned mount and Am to pace nervously in place.

Bit looked around for something - anything - to provide them some cover from the oncoming worms. Spying nothing, he sighed and reached into his beltpouch. Rummaging around the few mystical components he had, he located a small stone vial, withdrew it and tapped it over his palm dislodging a desiccated grasshopper's leg.
"If this is to be our fate, I plan on doing this in style friends! Let's see if I can't wrangle up a new mount"
