Leaping, Bit realized there was no way he would reach the back and instead aimed squarely at the compound eyes of the terrifying creature

Disappointed at his underwhelming distance performance with the darts and shocked to see the sturdiest of dwarfs stymied in a deadly spider-grapple, Baal grabbed his spear, charged the giant subterranean spider and vanished from sight and sound.
((Activate ring and charge the trapdoor spider with spear in melee))

Arristuun had the same instincts as everyone else. It was poor strategy, but he grabbed his trident out of the sand where he'd left it standing by him and charged at the giant trapdoor spider. Since it was getting crowded around the monster, the river ranger was going to have to move around it and try to get it from behind.
In the back of his mind, Arristuun hoped that Am could defend himself against the spiders until Thorsan was saved...

[When a fighter is being grappled or wrestled he may elect to make an attack with his spikes, instead of boxing or wrestling. This attack is made with a -2 attack penalty.} I never break grapples, I attack with my armor instead. Elbows, knees and head spikes.]
Thorsan let go of his axe and began thrashing as he neared his berserker rage, punching out with elbows and knees, shredding the beast with his armor. His insults and curses began to become indecipherable, a bad sign. "I'll gunk your motherwockin' fangobbler!" he shouted.

Saskia held her vigil around Alfbern. The dwarf did not look to her like he needed saving, nor would he appreciate it.

Alfbern decided to continue mopping up the smaller spiders. He drew a bead on the injured spider closest to him and fired. Then he shifted to another injured spider and fired a second shot.
((If the first shot does not kill the first spider, modify the intention to shoot it again.))

The party wins initiative!
Thorsan thrashed and thrashed, spikes and nails and beard a-flyin'. Pus & ichor exploded from the beast, and it screamed horribly as Galatea & Lucky quickly plunged their magicked blades into the exposed bits. It died. Loudly.
Albern had an incredible shot with his bow and instantly eradicated another smaller arachnid. His other shot went wide as his bowstring snapped. [crit fumble.] He'd have to restring before attacking again.
The other two spiders, upon hearing the death shrieks, turned and fled the way they came.
Arristuun while disappointed at the lack of a trident target, noticed a detail before the others. It appeared that the hole around the spider was not completely sand or dirt. He could see stone to the side as the carcass settled and twitched. Thorsan began to work himself free of the mess.
[Combat is over unless pursuit of the last two injured arachnids is attempted.]

Alfbern immediately dug into his pack and set about restringing his bow.
"Unlikely to be any reward for killing this kind of nasty," he said to his sister in their native language. "Can you eat them?"
((Survival/Hunting: can you eat giant spiders?))

[Success] Technically these spiders were edible. There was an irritating effect felt if hairs weren't burnt off. They'd also have to avoid the poison sac and the fangs for fear of poison. Further reading. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fried_spider

Baal pursued the two fleeing spiders, invisible and silent, intent on dispatching them both. Lest the group chance upon them again under less favorable circumstances . . .

They fled too fast for our druid friend, quickly outpacing his stride.

This was certainly a day of disappointing things. Baal returned to the group, but deactivated his ring somewhere out of sight range of the others.

Galatea sheathed her swords and grabbed her bow. "Hey, Druid! You're not useless. This might actually work." She rubbed her arm as it was still a little sore from the fading burns and spat out a little blood. "Keep it up", she told Baal, before running ahead to the spider's carcass.

[Some clarification please, Kass. I don't quite understand Galatea's reaction and/or next action.]

[Some clarification please, Kass. I don't quite understand Galatea's reaction and/or next action.] Her way of saying "Thank you for healing me". Also, weren't we going to try to salvage the carcass for food?
