Bit slowly stopped his spinning blade and let it fall lamely to his side. Staring at the rendered carcass of the beast and looking over the group he sputtered "That was...fast?...Did Thorsan..?...Wait..how by the gods did you come across a Lightning Javelin?!"

"Who are you?" Alfbern said to the stranger [Baal]. He had his bow and an arrow ready to fire but he was not bearing down on the man. "Did we kill your pet?"

Post by Thorsan on Jun 20, 2016 20:55:33 GMT -6
Tumbling end over end like a metal porcupine, Thorsan finally came to a stop at the bottom of the pit. "Well," he groaned. "Two new rides in two days. I'm startin' ter like this place!"
He stood up and started futilely shaking the sand out of his boots. When he saw Alfburn head towards the doors, he grabbed up his battleaxe and followed, chatting amiably. "Did I ever tell ye 'bout the time me cousin almost drowned in the Pond of Dwarven Tears? Ye wouldna think it could happen 'cause the water's so shallow, but that's how it gets ye; overconfidence. Tharnon was with his lady at the time, and he was yellin' fer her ter save him, but she didna want ter get her beard wet..." He broke off as he saw the forms descending from above. "SPIDERRRRSSSSSS" he bellowed as he charged at a nearby creature, head already lowering to gore the thing.

"Arristuun! The camels!" Bit shouted as he dexterously leapt for the rope, sliding quickly down. Using his legs for purchase and holding on to the rope with one hand, he used the other to draw a throwing dagger, not knowing what awaited him below.

With her position atop the sand mound a safe distance away from the spiders, Saskia pulled a sling and a handful of stones from one of her pouches. She looked for targets safely away from her allies and set to work.

Baal readied himself for a spell he'd prayed for during the first night of his desert exile. ((Casting Faerie Fire--should be able to get all the spiders; +1 to hit vs the outlined spiders under a continual light effect.))
After offering praise to Ramman, the giant spiders became surrounded by a faint violet colored glow. He hoped this would make targeting them easier for his protectors.

Alfbern struggled with the spider while trying to pull out his dagger. Once he got it out he started trying to punch it into the dangerous thing's belly.

Arristuun had been eager to slide down the rope after Taliesin, but Bithautor was right -- someone was going to have to keep an eye on the pack animals, Am, and Bailey. He called Bailey over to him, so the dog would stay by Am and not follow its master into the pit. At least, not yet.

The spiders were quick to attack the party. The one gripping Alfbern continued to sink it's fangs into his neck and while so distracted, took another bite in the thigh by another arachnid threat. He managed to stab the one attached to him with his dagger, but it was a weak hit. The second spider bite proved to contain more venom and the half elf felt his body seize up rigidly. [7 damage, one missed save vs. poison, dealt 1 damage to the first spider, currently paralyzed.]
A glow encompassed the enemies, making it easier to focus their attacks on the arachnids [Baal's Faerie Fire].
Saskia could not get a solid shot with her sling stone. It ricocheted off one of the stone columns. The other three spiders attacked Thorsan as he rushed to attack (And missed. Perhaps they weren't used to charging psycho dwarfs). Against safety protocol, he attacked the one attached to Alfbern's back at a full charge. He dealt just enough impaling damage to hear a dying shriek from the hairy nightmare. [9 damage dealt]
Zacklun turns invisible, and flies to the attack, stabbing a spider for an epic blow of his dagger in the beast's abdomen. [4 damage, still alive]
Lucky wasn't so lucky. His dagger throw was ill aimed into the melee.
Taliesin would be able to make a ranged attack the next round if he would like.
[4 spiders left, one damaged. 2 standing over Alfbern, 3 attacking Thorsan.]

Bit screamed at himself "So a few days in the desert and you turn into a rank amatuer?!" Spitting sand, he steeled himself and drew two daggers. "All I have to do is forget they are incredibly large spider beasts and instead imagine it is just another show, same as always."
Taking in a deep breath helped still his shaking hands, as he released both daggers at the nearest creature.
